Our story

My name is Hiral Patel, and I am the founder of Empathy Housing. I was inspired to create Empathy Housing from my past experiences with homelessness and a close family member experiencing life-changing disabilities. I want to use my personal understanding of these situations to accelerate and improve the rate at which people in similar situations are able to find accommodation and care provision, so they can live a good quality of life, like the rest of us.

I started my journey in 2020, working with several agents who sourced property from landlords and we leased to the local authority to help with supply of temporary accommodation. I felt we could do a better job working directly with local authorities and providers, as this would allow us to provide a more cost-efficient solution to our customers and give us a more detailed look into complicated issues facing the local communities. Using this knowledge has allowed us to design specific solutions to serve more people with our services and help us get closer to completing our mission.

At the end of 2021, I founded Empathy Housing with the mission to help 100,000 people get access to accommodation that need it most.
